All About Shoots

£350. To reserve your session a booking fee of £100 is required, then the remaining £250 is due one week before our scheduled shoot date.
This includes the session itself, plus an online gallery of at least 30 edited images from which you can order prints. (Prints are charged separately.)
-
I know that family life can be unpredictable. You may reschedule your session once, free of charge, provided you give at least 7 days' notice. Your new session must take place within 3 months of the original booking date and is subject to availability.
If your child is unwell or there are exceptional circumstances, please contact me as soon as possible. I will always try to be as flexible as I can.
If the weather is unsuitable for our shoot we can arrange an alternative date.

Outside! I have a few favourite locations that work well for family sessions, with space for activities, good lighting conditions and relatively few distractions.
If you have a location in mind, we can chat it through first, we just need to make sure it has the right combination of space, light, safety, and privacy.
-
I work within a 15 mile radius of Sevenoaks train station. (If you live slightly further away I can travel to you, but please note I charge mileage at 55p/ mile).
-
About 45 minutes, depending on the size of your family, the location and how the session unfolds on the day.
-
We’ll meet near our location and walk over together. We’ll start with some of the basics ‘everyone look at me and smile’ and loosen up from there, with some creative poses and activities to get some candid shots. I like to play music to encourage a fun atmosphere.
-
Natural light photography means I use the light that's already around us rather than studio or flash lighting.
It also means that every session looks a little different depending on the season, weather and time of day.
-
No, but to be honest - I wouldn’t want to. Golden hour light is beautiful, but so are overcast days, hazy morning sunshine, and grey clouds can look pretty vibey too.
I work with whatever light we're given on the day, so your photographs will be unique to your family and our particular session.
Also, golden hour often coincides with witching hour so given the choice between ‘perfect’ lighting and a happy child, I’ll take a happy child every time.
-
The more relaxed and enjoyable the session feels, the better the photographs tend to be.
I know that children have minds of their own, but here are a few things that can help:
Make sure they're well fed. Bring snacks!
Bring a favourite toy or comfort item. They look cute in photos, too.
Think about what they'll enjoy doing. Dancing, climbing, or collecting things can all become part of the photographs. I love collaboration so feel free to give me some ideas for poses before and during the shoot - it’s your family, I’m just here to capture you.
Introduce them to me (online). You can show them my website or Instagram beforehand so that I'm not a complete stranger when we meet.
Some parents promise their children a reward - ice cream, time on the iPad - if they’re well-behaved during the shoot.
Don't worry if things don't go to plan. I expect a little chaos working with small children, and that's often when the best photographs happen.
-
I recommend clothes that you feel comfortable in and that reflect your family's personality. I hope that years from now, when you look back at the photos, you remember this era of your life, not ‘that day we hired a photographer.’
Soft, neutral and earthy colours tend to photograph well. It can work to choose a colour family, ie everyone in shades of blue, green etc.
Avoid busy prints or logos as these can be distracting on camera.
I can give you some guidance before your session if you're unsure.
-
Usually 2–3 weeks, but this can vary depending on the time of year and how busy I am.
I'll give you a more accurate estimated delivery date when we finish your session.
-
Yes. You'll receive your photographs in an online gallery, where you'll be able to order prints and other products.
-
I will not share any photos for promotional purposes without your consent. If you are happy for me to share some or all of them, that’s helpful for my business, if you’d rather keep them private, I completely respect that and it will not affect the service you receive.

We live in England, so rain is something we need to contend with! When we schedule our shoot we need to view it in the same way we would view any other outdoor plans - liable to change. If rain is forecast we’ll check back in 24 hours before the scheduled shoot time. If rain is still looking likely we can reschedule.
